Coraline Review (By T)

WARNING: THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS

Well, since my brother (who is the owner of this blog) decided to break this being a Halloween focused blog, I figured I'd go ahead and do a review on a pretty creepy movie... Coraline. Now, I don't really see this as a horror movie as I watched it for the first time on Freeform (formerly known as ABC Family) back when I was 8 and didn't get scared. However, Wikipedia states it as being a "Stop Motion, Dark Fantasy, Horror film," I might as well give it a shot. Now, I haven't seen this movie in quite a long time, so if I'm a little rough around the edges, excuse me. Before I start, I'd like to say that this is most likely the only horror movie I will ever see because I don't like horror movies. Horror video games however, such as the Five Nights at Freddy's series, Slender and Vanish I'm fine with, but horror MOVIES? Heck no. Coraline was a movie released in 2009 with high expectations, and those expectations were right. The movie sold so many tickets at the theaters that the creator of the novel it's based on was super happy. Now, basically the plot of the movie is that Coraline finds a mysterious door in her house and falls into it. This isn't just an ordinary door. There's a portal behind it. That portal leads to an opposite universe where there's this very creepy looking monster called the "Beldame" who basicly kidnaps people, clones them and replaces the clones' eyes with black buttons. The Beldame does this to the opposite universe versions of Coraline's parents and her cat. The parents are confused to why Coraline doesn't have buttons for eyes so they take her to the Beldame. Coraline learns the dark secrets behind this opposite universe and sets out to save everyone, stop the Beldame and get back to her universe. This IS a pretty creepy movie, so I don't think it should be watched by anyone under the age of 8. All in all, this is a pretty good movie! Solid story plot, creepy/unsettling characters, a creepy feeling through the whole 2 hours, this is a pretty great movie. Like I said earlier, I don't think it's suitable for anyone 7 or under, but some 7 year olds might like it, but still. It's a pretty great movie. In the end, I give this movie a 9/10. Well, that was my review on Coraline! Hope you enjoyed!
