The Evil That Is Caws.ws: More into the problems with Caws and THQ (By T)

Okay, now I haven't had that much experience with caws.ws, but I have had some. My brother posted about caws back in 2012, and I honestly didn't know he had as many problems with it as I did.

First off, I have been a fan of WWE since I'd say around 2008. Now, I was only 4 back in 2008, so I didn't know that much about WWE, but I did play WWE games with my brother on his PS2 all the time back then. Now, with experience from WWE games since 2008, I knew that they had a few glitches, but not as much until... the logo change. If you ever wondered why THQ was shut down, you have the WWE game series to thank for that.

For my brother, it all started with WWE '12. But for me, it was '13. On December 24, 2012, I was so happy when I unwrapped a PS3 as well as 2 games for it (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and WWE '13. (I always go to my grandparents house and open their presents to me on Christmas Eve)) Then, around July, 2013,  I had found out that my brother had been using something called Caws to hack his copy of WWE '13 to import textures to accurately re-create real WWE superstars in Create A Superstar. I asked how, so I could make ones that looked like myself, and he showed me how.

At the time, I didn't have an internet connection, but my grandparent's house did, so I used it as much as I could in this whole situation. The save file my brother used was his save file for Red Dead Redemption and the one I used was my save file for LEGO Harry Potter Years 1-4. I don't know if that had something to do with it or not, but still though. I donloaded the Custom Texture Converter and the Fluffy Cat CAWs Package Maker, but no mater HOW MANY times I tried... nothing happened.

I eventually realized that I had been forgetting to re-name that one file from "Save.dat" to "Logo.dat". After I fixed my mistake, I was doing everything right, and this time the save file showed up on my PS3 when viewing the contents of my flash drive, and it showed up as WWE '13 and even played Reveloution by Pennywise when I had the file highlighted. I thought it was actually gonna work. I moved the file to my PS3 and when I started up WWE '13, it sayed that it was a corrupted save file, and so the game wouldn't start.

I consulted my brother over the phone, and he said to look it up online the next time I got the chance to use internet. So then, when I got the chance, I went to the caws.ws forums, and made an account, and posted a question asking what I was doing wrong.

After 3 months, there were only 2 replies. One said that I needed to jail-break my PS3, which I didn't need to do, seeing as my brother didn't have to, and one from a user I eventually ended up becoming enemies with, (Mysterion736, which I only now know is a reference to South Park because at the time I had never heard of SP) who said I was doing everything right and that I must have been to stupid to figure out that WWE '13 needed to be in my PS3 before my flash drive. I told him that it was, then he said I was a stupid 4-year-old liar that wants to be cool, and after that we got in to a big reply fight and luckly, the Mysterion736 account ended up getting banned. Also, I deleted my CAWs account in febuary 2015 because my gmail kept getting filled up with caws news, so I deleted it so I wouldn't receive them anymore

After that, I looked for video tutorials on YouTube. All of them were doing the same thing I was doing. I then did a quick Google search only to find out that all disc copys released after December 2, 2012 were updated copys that patched the texture hacking bug. I then got steaming mad and went to the THQ website and sent an email to THQ demanding they release an update that un-patches the bug, but they declined saying that it was simply an exploit that they did not want in the game so they removed it.

I then got 10x more mad than before sending back more messages, one in particular got THQ very mad and after that they threatened that if I sent another message, the would go to Sony and get my PSN account banned. I'll try and find it in my gmail history and if I can find it, I'll put it right here. Okay, it took me a while to find it, but here it is.

Me: "OKAY, THATS IT SCREW YOU GUYS! IV BEEN THROUGH HECK AND BACK TO TRY AND GET THIS CRAP TO WORK AND NOW YOU CANT EVEN UNPATCH THIS CRAP!? I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU SCAM YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS AGAIN, ILL NEVER GET ANOTHER THQ GAME AGAIN AND YOU WILL LOOSE MONEY FROM WHAT USED TO BE A VERY LOYAL CUSTOMER!!! AND ALL FOR SOME STUPID WWE 13 GLITCH!!! SCREW YOU STINKING BUT HOLES!!!"

THQ: "Okay, sir, we have had about enough of this. All it is is an exploit that was not intended to be in the game. This bug has a high chance of breaking your Playstation system, and if this happens, we will not be held responsible due to it being your own choice. And please stop spamming these messages, as it is making our connection painfully slow and can not work in these conditions. If you send any more messages, we will go to the network department at Sony and get your Playstation Network account banned, and we're serious."

After that, I didn't send any more messages to THQ, but either way, they lost a loyal customer. That was my experience with caws.ws and the evil THQ. I know this was kind of a long post, but I hope now you know to stay away from CAWs.
